A high-spirited comedy written in the dialect of the author’s native village (Ořechov u Brna). The play wryly aims a sharp eye at the human vices encountered today and every day. Vicious gossip, envy and even plain foolishness are rendered in an unmatchable style, with a sense for comedic exaggeration and surprisingly pointed humorous situations. The comedy rings with the sound of more than just the odd song or two, which color in and varnish the engrossing mosaic of the storyline. The title of the piece is not, as some might imagine, meant as a vulgarity. It’s actually a common saying that has been a tradition in the Moravian countryside for centuries. And why a carnival court? Well, that’s because the story takes place during carnival time in the Brno region.
